Greatfull Friday, Old Photos & A Meme

This has been a looooooong week... and a rather restless one at that. My baby is in Hawaii - left Saturday, and returns Sunday evening. She is with her grandparents who love to spoil her like this, who make time one week out of the year to take her somewhere and it makes me so happy. I love this time she spends with them traveling though I miss her terribly when she's gone. No me encuentro, I feel out of sorts, and at night I tuck her little Snoopy into her bed.

She calls to tell me goodnight, and we talk about her adventures. Previous years there was a sadness in her voice as she would occasionally whisper that she missed me.
El año pasado, last year when we spoke the night before her flight home she made me promise I would be there waiting at the airport, and she hugged me over and over when we were finally together. As she gets older that sense of needing me to tuck her in, to give her that kiss goodnight is not as urgent. This is a good sign, the sign that she is maturing confidently. She loves me, misses me, but is relaxed in the moments away from me.

This is what I am greatfull for... my baby finding her place, growing up and into her own... loving me, and missing me, but knowing she will soon be ready to take flight. She will no longer ache for me, instead taking me with her the way capable young ladies do... in her heart.

Thinking of my baby also prepared me for a meme - I was tagged by Sperly Girl (don't you just love that name?) who was tagged by Breathing Easy. Here are the rules:

1. Write a six word memoir

2. Post it on your blog and include a visual illustration or photo if you’d like

3. Link to the person that tagged you in your post and to the original post if possible so the meme can be tracked as it travels across the blogosphere

4. Tag five more blogs with links

5. Leave a comment on the tagged blogs with an invitation to play.

Here's my image and memoir:

This is why my heart beats...

I now tag:

Carmen
Joan
Linni
Carolyn
Nicole

Happy weekend every body, and remember to keep planting kisses so that love may grow...

your words and gestures surrounding love and life, pour out so warmly and freely...
